Less Direction: Taking Notes
There has been research done on digital vs. hand written but not a comparison of digital vs. digital (type of device)
Some might say that regardless of the device, handwriting notes are more helpful in memorizing, while others may say that ipads could have distracting features to it.
Doing hand-written notes are better in terms of memorization.
3 groups. Ipad, by hand, computer. Compare and contrast the three groups and analyze data.
So far, hand-wrriten notes are proven to be effective. Therefore, experts predict that ipad would have similar effect as traditional notes.
Students often take a lot of notes in class to retain information and review them later on. Finding the best method to concentrate and the most effective way of note-taking would save students a lot of time and boost their efficiency.
Economically, people claim that using digital notes is better because the storage can be expanded without a limit. Environmentalists also agree with this point because using notes is a waste of paper.
Educationally, or on the students perspective, there may be distracting features on ipads or macbook such is SNS that may be more distracting while studying.
How does listening to different genre of music impact students while studying?
There are studies on whether listening to music is effective or not but no study has done or a collection of data has been collected to compare how different genre impact level of distraction.
Some may claim that listening to music without lyrics or slow beat music may help. Others would say that type of music doesn't matter, it is all distracting.
Listening to music with no lyrics or classical music is better.
Have few genre with music (with lyrics if it has one) and compare levels of concentrations.... do they get distracted? How often?
So far, it is only proven that classical music is helpful and there are also research that music itself is not helpful in terms of concentration at all.
Many of KIS students listen to music while studying. Finding the best genre of music that helps them concentrate can boost study efficiency.
Scientifically, when our heart beat goes up it is hard to focus so slow beat music would be more helpful.
Psychologically, : having lyrics is more distracting because people tend to focus on the lyrics and understand the song while studying. However, it is proven that only 4% of the world could multitask at the same time.
How does being with different groups impact teens? How does groupthink differ?
There has been research done on conformity, but mostly about behavior and not what you express (say aloud).
Some might say that the kind of group people are with has none to no impact on opinions. Other would say that since they are teens having friends around them would influence them more while others would say that having adults around would bring more behavioural change.
Teenagers have different behavior around adults and their friends. Why?
Find at least 10 subjects. Make sure each subject is part of several groups; friend-group, peer-group, class project group mixed grades,friend group 2 (primarily older students), friend group 3 (primarily younger students), compare the subject's reaction to complimenting others. Do they follow? Yes/No? Details?
So far there is research done on group conformity that when in a group, people tend to follow everyone else's behavior even if they think its wrong.
If groupthink is being influenced by the type of people teenagers are with, the types of people teenagers associate with is crucial to help teenagers make good choices.
There is only research done about whether students do the right choice infront of adults or not.
