Diffusion
Net movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration down a contentration gradient. (if partially permeable membrane is there add it into statement)
Osmosis
Net movement of water molecules from a region of higher water potential to a region of lower water potential down a water potential gradient through a partially permeable membrane(may be living)
Plants
Too much water: Turgid
Too less water: Flaccid/Plasmolysed
Animals
Too much water: burst/lyse
Too less water: Crenated
Surface area to volume ratio
Volume affects diffusion/osmosis rate. Higher volume, lower rate. Lower volume, higher rate
Surface area oso affects diffusion/osmosis. Higher surface area, higher rate. Low surface area, lower rate.
Active transport
Movement of molecules via energy from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration against a concentration gradient through a partially permeable cell membrane
