Macroscopic/ Gross
Organ will be pale in color
enlarged
ruptured spots
Microscopic
cell swelling(cytoplasm contains coarse granules)
nucleus not affected in light microscopy
pigmented cast and hyaline cast
Introduction
ballooning degeneration /vacuolar degeneration
occurs when there is entry of water into the cytoplasm of the cells
cellular swelling occurs
cells become bigger in size and takes up space
cellular rupture in worse cases
