Cache
Small set of locations close to CPU
RAM/Cache content constantly swapped around
Cache size - MBs, RAM size - GBs; harder to replace/
upgrade; most modern comp. have 3 lvls, some 4
More data held near CPU; One L1-2 for each core
L1: smallest, fastest cache, part of core circuitry
L2: slower, larger than L1, usually part of core
L3: sits on processor, slower, larger still
L4: also placed on/near processor, for newer systems
Greater cache = better performance, quicker access, more
queued instruct; incr. speed/memory size
