Capitalism essentially divides people into two classes, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat.

The Butter Battle Book

The Butter Book addresses the importance of power and challenges social and political ideology

The two classes can be represented by the Yooks who eat bread with the butter side up, and the Zooks who eat their bread with the butter side down.

The Art of Fielding (ISU Novel)

Therefore, the subconscious mind impacted Henry's behaviour in a negative way. The feeling of self-doubt not only affected the way he plays on the field, but it created a lack of confidence.

Pella escaped her marriage with David, and was determined to start a new life as she was "helplessly depressed she depended on him".

Through the character of Pella, the author is demonstrating that David held more power and was the dominant role in their relationship. However, with Pella leaving her marriage it goes to show that she does not need to depend on her husband or any man to live her life.

The way society and the government is organized so that men hold the majority of power and women are largely excluded from it

My study of Feminist criticism has helped me recognize that most problematic elements today arise from patriarchal social structures of my identity as a female.

Patriachy creates an imbalance of power that strictly marginalize women and their work.

For example, I am one of the only 5 girls in my computer science class. This is because it is reflected of the patriarchal social structure that computer science is a more male-dominated field and it is not common for females to work in this field or even become computer programmers.

Henry's one routine throw goes disastrously off course hitting his teammate Owen in the face and this error affects his self-esteem.

Similar to Henry, I have experienced a time when I have had low self-esteem and a lack of confidence due to a bad game. In one of my basketball games, I did not play so great as I had a lot of errors and turnovers. As a result my coach benched me. Just like Henry, I started to doubt myself and lose my confidence. This one setback started to eat me up inside as I started to question my abilities and where I stand in regards to other players on the team.

The study of Freudian criticism has made me realize that the id, ego, and superego as well as the subconscious mind play a big role in the way I behave and act.

The study of Marxist criticism has allowed me interpret society from a more economical and political perspective. By

Canada has a "mixed" economy that lies between these extremes. We have three levels of government that displays capitalism in order to decide how to allocate much of the country's wealth through taxing and spending.

Overall, the use of different theories and ethical lenses, taught me how to analyze different texts throughout the course and understand the true messages and lessons that the writer is trying to convey.

It has influenced me to to think critically about my own experiences and real-life situations and connect them back to these psychological theories. (Marxism, Freudian Criticism, and Feminism)

Our government represents the Bourgeoisie and therefore, they hold the most power in our country as they control all the economic and human resources.

That makes us, the Proletariat, as we are the working class that has to perform manual labor to provide wealth amongst the rest of society.

As an athlete myself, I now know to not let my subcncious mind get the best of me whenever I make an error because it will have a negative impact on me in the long run.
