Online Meeting
Parents can do this via. Zoom or Skype. I want them to communicate time and what questions they may have. The reasoning behind this is because parents are busy. They have different hours that is why I will give them the choice of choosing. I will email them ahead of time and let them know to email questions ahead of time so I can prepare. Last-minute questions are okay too.
Lily's Parents
opted for an online meeting due to their busy schedule. They emailed questions ahead of time asking about the daily meetings. I explained that this was during class for about 5-10 minutes to check in on how she is doing and how she is feeling. They talked about Tutoring and how often we would do that. These meetings helped us understand between the parents and teacher what is taking place.
Lily's Meeting
Lily parents wanted to have weekly zoom meetings until she improved. In total we had four meetings and Lily improved greatly during that time. I remind the parents that any concerns they may contact me any time to set up a meeting.
In-Person Meeting
Email ahead of time again. Asking what best fits their schedule. Ask them to bring questions and tell them what you will talk about. Have material ready for parents to look at. Show them the students progress.
Relationship

I would communicate weekly updates with the parents so they understand what is going on. Ask them to email me any questions that they have. Make sure they know I am available they just have to email me.
For Lily
Her parents really like email communication. This helped us build a relationship and communicate their daughter's needs.
The End Result
After this relationship was built we saw great improvement in her work in the area she struggled with she was able to prove she understood. This helped with the final exam that focused on this portion. We saw great progress thanks to the parents reminders to Lily through the relationship built over communication.
Sharing Test Results (Keia)
Communicating to parents about assessment results is an important step in helping them to understand their child’s growth. You should strive to be a partner in goal setting, which in turn allows parents an active role in improving their child’s learning.

Suggest outside reading lists to parents for their students at home

Remind parents, both online and in-person, that it’s important for their child to be well-rested on the day of a test.
Encourage parents to create a positive, quiet environment for their child to study at home, if this is at all possible.

You should meet with parents as often as needed to discuss their child’s progress. This can be done via zoom/google meet for online parents or for in-person parents, if necessary.

Post -Assessment Communication
Share with parents, both online and in-person, which tests are being used in their child’s classroom. Also, communicate how the results of their student's test are used.
Communicate the purpose of the assessments to parents both online and in-person. It is important that parents understand the difference between assessments that are used to inform classroom instruction, and the specific tests needed to meet state requirements.
Send a communication about when the tests are being given, when the results will be available, and how the parents will receive the results.
To the parents (both in-person and online) it is important to point out academic strengths first so that parents will know what foundations to build upon after they receive the results in areas their child may have shown weakness.
Share with the parents both online and in-person, their child’s learning progress using assessment results as well as your own classroom observations.

we will ensure she understands that she is not in trouble. We are just concerned about her test scores. We know that testing and material can be hard, so ensure that she knows we are there to support her.
The Check Up
I want to have weekly check ups with
Lily
to see how she thinks she is progressing. I want to understand what material she is struggling. Once we feel comfortable with the checks and we some progress they will become less and less. We will also have the parents informed about the meeting and try to schedule a weekly or every other week meeting. This can be done by email, in person, or zoom call. With documents and note proof about progress.
Remote/Virtual Communication
Keep this up as mentioned via email, in person, or zoom call. This will also be used as a way to communicate students
concerns.
This will help us understand where
Lily's
head is at. Understand what Lily is worried about and why she is struggling.
Lily Concerns
focused primarily if she had time to focus on other classes. We decided to try to stick to tutoring time to short time during lunch or after school at least three times a week. We saw improvement, and thanks to her communication she was able to maintain a level head about other classes.
Positive Reinforcement
Homework Coupons (Waive out of Assignment or do certain questions), Extra Credit (For projects, quizzes, test, homework), Class Movie (A day where the class watches movies), Game Day (play board, cards, computer, phones games as a class).

Lily Choose
the Extra Credit and Class Movie for group work. She wants to use the extra credit to bring her test score up even if it is only a little bit.
Positive Reinforcement
Lily used extra credit to give her test a few points up. We limited it to three points per test. Thanks to this it helped alleviate the stress she was feeling from the score. Her attitude improved greatly and we saw substantial progress.
Setting Expectation at the Beginning of the Year
This will be for the whole class to understand what the teacher expects of them. It would list out the grade expectation, and what material will be gone over in class. It will also list what behavioral expectations the teacher has as well. I would also like the students to sign that they understand what we expect of them
Falling Below Expectation
When Lily starts to fall below the expectation set. We will sit down and discuss what they think should be done. Talk to them and inform the parents what the teacher and student spoke about.
With Lily
, she felt like she did not understand the new material we were learning in class. We informed Lily's parents about her score. We emailed her parents a new expectation plan, and what course of action we would be taking. We want to keep the parents in the loop. Let them know and ask them to sign off so we know that they understand.
After Setting New Expectation
Keep a log and track student's progress. Have tutoring sessions or sit down with students to explain areas that they may not understand. Keep parents informed about tutoring sessions or extra work assigned. Let them know if they have attended the tutoring session and how much progress they have made. We really want

to succeed in her new expectation. These checks will keep her accountable and we can talk to her parents to show progress through work and quizzes.
Meeting Expectation
When Lily started to meet expectation we lessened the load of tutoring and meeting bit by bit. We continued to remind her that we are available to help that she just needs to reach out.
