ISRAEL vs. PALESTINE CONFLICT :red_flag:
:
How it started?
United Nations adopted Resolution 181,, known as the
Partition Plan
. which divide the British Mandate of Palestine into Arab and Jewish states. (1947)
The Israelis
occupied almost half
of the territory of
the Arab state
(1949)
Jesusalem
, which is an important contention point was taken by the Israelis (1967-1973)
Proclamation of the state of Israel, which paralleled the Arab-Israeli war (1948)
Since then both parts have been
fighting actively
to protect and acquire more territory to stablish their states
What's happening now?
Tensions are often high between Israel and Palestinians living in
East Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank.
Gaza is now ruled by the
Palestinian militant group
Hamas. That has fought Israel plenty of times
The threatened
eviction of some Palestinian families
in East Jerusalem has caused the anger to increase
Parties
Israel
Needs:
Acquire new territory
, which will not be sacrificed in the name of peace
Palestine
Has two major Palestinian political parties, Hamas and Fatah
Needs:
Fight not to lose and regain territory
to create their own state and not be deprived of it.
Why doesn't it end?
Mainly due to the fact that both parties wish to negotiate peace under
unacceptable specific conditions
to the other
Currently the radical group Hamas has
promised to destroy Israel
to create an Islamic country in all Palestinian territories, complicating the resolution of the conflict.
Palestinians say they're suffering because of Israeli actions while Israel say it is only acting to
protect itself
from
Palestinian violence.
Facts
When President
Donald Trump
declared Jerusalem to be the
capital of Israel
, the death toll rises to four Palestinians killed and 1,778 wounded.
Peace talks
have been taking place on and off for more than 25 years, but so far have not solved the conflict.
The UN
agency for refugees
in Palestine was created on December 8, 1949 to to provide health, education and general aid services to refugees.
