Benchmark
Definition: Assessments between formal and summative, they are fixed to evaluate students in the specific grade level rather than just an taking a quick pulse of understanding.
Example: End of 6 week assessment that will allow the student to demonstrate what they learned throughout the 6 week lessons

Formative
Definition: Formative refers to a wide variety of methods that teachers use to conduct evaluations of student comprehension, learning needs, and academic process during a lesson, unit, or course.

Diagnostic
Definition: A form of pre-assessment where teachers evaluate students' strengths, weaknesses, knowledge and skills before their instruction
Examples: KWL charts that will allow the students to write down what they know, want to learn and what they have learned. Before and after construction.
Example: MAP testing, students take this as a test that introduce them to new concepts within that year
Perfomance
Definition: This allows students to perform a task rather than selecting an answer from a key already made.
