VIRAL PNEUMONIA - Coggle Diagram
VIRAL PNEUMONIA
MORPHOLOGY
Alveolar: edema, erythrocytes & hyaline membranes
-
-
Secondary bacterial infections by Staphylococcus, Haemophilus or Streptococcus are common.
Necrosis>ciliated Resp. epithelium , & bronch. & alveoli(fatal)
-
-
-
VIRAL INFECTIONS
-
Pathology depends on:
Type of Virus: Cytopathic(structural changes in host cells > viral invasion. vs. proliferative activity
Site: viral inclusions, alveolar necrosis>hyaline membrane formation, attack on term. bronc by adenovirus , DAD>Regenerative change

Children
- Respiratory syncytial virus- obstructive bronchiolitis
- Parainfluenza- viral pneumonia (Measles, Adenovirus)
