Online Tools Brainstorming
Blended Learning :star:
Learning occurs both face-to-face and online.
Also known as "hybrid" courses
Prepares students social and technological skills for real world application (Hadiyanto et al. 2021).
Convenient and flexible (Das 2021).
"The blended learning
process can increase student satisfaction, reduce stress, and promote deeper learning" (Das 2021).
Online Learning :star:
Also known as e-learning.
Benefits include flexibility, self-pacing, and learned responsibility.
Concerns and challenges include low motivation from students, lack of social interaction, and technology failure or connection issues.
"At the same time we cannot ignore the fact that, the effectiveness of online learning does not depend on technology itself but on the instructors' preparation and their attitude, mind set including perceived benefits, barriers and needs" (Kalaimathi et. al. 2020).
Flipped Learning :star:
A disadvantage is that it involves a lot of up front work from the instructors.
Decreases boredom of students who need a challenge, allows lower level students to get help, and keeps grade level students on track.
Students have direct access to self-paced and leveled material, while the teacher acts as a guide or coach.
Involves providing lessons to students while they are at home so that when they are in the face-to-face classroom they can use the time to go over practice material and get additional help.
HyFlex :star:
A combination of blended, face-to-face and online learning simultaneously.
Demanding work process in designing materials that can be used in all modalities.
All educational resources must be online and accessible to all students. Even those who are learning in the face-to-face environment.
Allows student choice in how they participate on a daily basis. For example, a student who regularly attends online feels the need to get further face-to-face explanation and can go in to the class to get that.
Provides a sense of comfort once it is planned knowing that there is always an asynchronous plan for emergency school closures or other events.
