KARMA YOGA IN KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS - CH 5
devotional service
detail of akarma , shloka 2.47 , 3.9
philosophy of karma yoga
ch 3 - perform your prescribed duty , for doing so is better than not working . one cannot even maintain one's physical body without work
ch 2 - work done as a sacrifice for vishnu has to be performed ; otherwise work causes bondage in this material world. therefore , o son of kunti , perform your prescribed duties for his satisfaction and in that way you will always remain free from knowledge
example of bhramchari
pride comes
when you attain knowledge
when you get power
check humility
lord says work in devotional service is better than dry mental speculation
being in transcendental nature , it frees one from reaction
conclusion of ch3 and 4
go arjun get some knowledge
sanyas le liya tabh bhi problem hai
for reducing pride ( ch 5)
shloka 6 ( krishna spoke to arjun )
merely renouncing all activities yet not engaging in the devotional service of the lord cannot make one happy . but a thoughtful person engaged in devotional service can achieve the supreme without delay
shloka 3 - one who neither hates nor desires the fruits of his activities is known to be always renounced. such a person , free from all dualities , easily overcomes material bondage and is completely liberated , o mighty - armed Arjuna
DON'T HATE ANYTHING
EXTENSION OF SHLOKA 9 -ONE who performs his duty without attachment , surrendering the results unto the supreme lord, is unaffected by sinful action , as the lotus leaf is untouched by water
the embodied spirit, master of the city of his body , does not create activities , nor does he induce people to a act , nor does he create the fruits of action . all this is enacted by the modes of material nature
the steadily devoted soul attains unadulterated peace because he offers the result of all activities to me, whereas a person who is not in union with divine , who is greedy for the fruits of his labor , becomes entangled
lottery example
3 mentalities
a person in full consciousness of me , knowing me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the supreme lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries .
