Feedback
-
-
knowledge of performance - provides feedback on what you did individually regardless of the result. Deals with quality of performance, not result
knowledge of results - how successful you have been in achieving what you set out to achieve. Normally given from a coach. An elite performer knows if they were successful, but a beginner performer may not
-extrinsic - information received from outside of the performer. for example from other people who saw you perform the skill
intrinsic - The internal feedback the performer gets as soon as they do the action.Information received by the athlete as a direct result of producing a movement
Types of guidance
Manual
-where the performer could be helped with physical movement, for example a coach supporting a gymnast with a handstand
Visual
-involves being able to see something, for example a demonstration or a video
verbal
-Involves the performer using hearing to listen to instructions, for example a team talk
mechanical
-involves the use of other objects to help the performer, for example armbands or stabilisers
Arousal

Gross movement skills require high levels of arousal, to be able to use strength, speed etc which is required to perform big muscular movements etc
Fine movement skills - need low levels of arousal. Mind and body needs to be calm for the level of coordination and concentration needed for the small movements needed
