Climate Justice
Who
-
-
-
-
People living in costal regions, megacities, mountains and polar regions
Why
-
Human activity has increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution, leading to more heat retention and an increase in surface temperatures.
Atmospheric aerosols alter climate by scattering and absorbing solar and infrared radiation and they may also change the microphysical and chemical properties of clouds.
Land-use changes, such as deforestation have led to changes in the amount of sunlight reflected from the ground back into space.
When
Climate change began around 11,700 years ago

What is Climate Justice
Climate justice is a term used to frame climate change as an ethical and political issue, rather than one that is purely environmental or physical in nature. This is done by relating the causes and effects of climate change to concepts of justice, particularly environmental justice and social justice.

Where
-
The Arctic, small islands and Asian megadeltas are regions that are likely to be especially affected by future climate change.
Africa
Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate variability and change because of multiple existing stresses and low adaptive capacity.
How
Human activity is the main cause of climate change. People burn fossil fuels and convert land from forests to agriculture. Burning fossil fuels produces carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. It is called a greenhouse gas because it produces a “greenhouse effect”.
