Tip-to-tail method
-Forces acting on obj form closed tri if they are in equilibrium (tail to tip)
-Forces acting on obj don't form closed tri if they aren't in equilibrium (tip to tip, tail to tail) --> Find resultant force
-
-
Laws
2) If Rf not =0, obj accelerates
F=ma, where F is Rf, m is mass, a is acceleration
3) Force exerted on A by B= Force exerted on B by A
opposite direction, forces are the same
(aka u slap someone, that person slaps u back)
1) If Rf=0, forces acting on obj is balanced(e.g. book pushed on table, if Rf=0, it will move at contant velocity)
Definition
A push/pull that one obj exerts on another obj. Can be produced, slow down, speed up, stop motion, change direction of motion
Example
Contact
-
Tension: Exerted by stretched spring, string, rope on an obj attached to it
Friction
-
Effects
-
Negative
Things less efficient cuz energy converted to other forms such as thermal, sound etc
