Programmed decisions - those that are repeated over time and for which an existing set of rules can be developed to guide the process.

Reflective system - logical, analytical, deliberate, and methodical

reactive system - is quick, impulsive, and intuitive, relying on emotions or habits to provide cues for what to do next

Emotional intelligence - is the ability to rcognize, understand, pay attention to, and manage one's own emotions and emotions of others.
includes self awareness, self regulation, empathy, social skills
Non programmed decisions - are novel, unstructured decisions that are generally based on criteria that are not well defined.
usually means they have incomplete details and will require thoughtful judgment and creative thinking
Bounded rationality - is the idea that for complex issues we cannot be completely rational because we connot fully grasp all the possible alternatives, nor can we understand all the implications of every possible alternative
Escalation of commitment - is the tendency of decision makers to remain committed to poor decisions, even when doing so leads to increasingly negative outcomes.

process conflict - can lead to improved performance as individuals explore various options together in order to identify superior solutions

Decision making process - recognize that a decision needs to be made, generate multiple alternatives, analyze the alternatives, select an alternative, evaluate its effectiveness

technique for better programmed decisions - satisficing - selecting the first acceptable solution with out engaging in additional effort to identify the best solution
