A continuous group of zeroes can be replaced with a double colon and that can only be done once. For example in a 32 digit 128 bit address where in the middle there is 0000:0000 this can be replaced with :: also known as a double colon.
Types of addresses
Global Address
A unicast address with a predefined global routing prefix, used for public internet access and has a range of 2001::/16
Link Local Address
For local connectivity only, assigned by default and is automatically generated, starting with FE80::/64. Are not routable.
Unique Local Address
unicast address with prefix FC00:/7 that is limited within a site or organization or between a few sites. Similar to private IPv4.
