In public, Lloyd George leant more towards Georges Clemenceau's way of thinking,
as the British people were angry with the Germans and thought they should be punished severely.
However in private he was worried about too severely weakening Germany
He wanted Germany to recover as a strong trading partner of Britain
Was also worried about the new "disease from the east", Communism
Thought that a stable Germany would at as a barrier for the spread of Communism

Not considered a part of the Big three, simply another figure in making of treaty
Aim was to ensure Italy their fair share of the spoils from the war
