Comparatives and Superlatives
They are used to compare nouns
One syllable adjectives
Comparative
We add -er to the ende of the adjective
If the adjective ends in the letter E, we just add de -r
If the adjective ends in a consonant + vowel + consonant we normally double the last letter. (not in fast or old)
When they are comparing two things or people, they are follow by

Superlative
If the adjective ends in the letter E, we just add de -st
We add -est to the end of the adjective
If the adjective ends in a consonant + vowel + consonant we normally double the last letter. (not in fast or old)
Two syllable adjectives ending in -y
Comparative
We remove the -y and add -ier to the end of the adjective
Superlative
We remove the -y and add -iest to the end of the adjective
Adjectives with two or more Syllables
Comparatives
We use
more / less
and the adjective
Superlatives
We use
the most / the least
and the adjective
Exceptions to the rule: narrow, simple and quiet
Irregular forms
Further / farther, furthest / farthest are used for distance.
Further / furthest are used to mean 'additional'
