The National Sports Federation of Ecuador was established in 1925. In 1926 it became part of the United Nations Football Federation (FIFA) and a year later it became part of the South American Football Federation (CONMEBOL). In the 1930s, the first soccer teams appeared; Aucas, Emelec, Barcelona, Deportivo Quito, Quito University Sports League (LDU).
