Communication requires that we listen to others and be able to return a message that expresses what we think or feel in accordance with what they have told us. It involves a round trip message. We can communicate with others through speech or sharing activities, and with our environment through work and contact with nature We are all born with a certain need for communication that is expressed in crying, searching for food and the ability to perceive what surrounds us. U.S. That is why we say that communication is a learning process that occurs throughout our lives.
The media are instruments through which messages reach us. In our country, most of the newspapers, television channels and radios belong to companies or private persons. The media are also owned by religious institutions. In addition to the traditional National Radio, there is a television channel, a radio and a newspaper. Although television channels and radios are privately owned, the frequency on which these media operate belongs to the state and cannot be sold.
The first newspaper to circulate in Ecuador was Primicias de la Cultura de Quito, published by Eugenio Espejo in 1791.
The oldest newspaper still in circulation is El Telégrafo, founded in Guayaquil in 1884.
The first radio station was Radio El Prado, from Riobamba, in the 1930s.
The first television broadcast in Ecuador happened in 1959.
The media reach the majority of the population. Therefore, they have the ability to influence people's decisions and opinions. We can identify with people from all over the world who consume Coca-Cola and have visited Disney World, share the same musical tastes with us, have seen the same movies, or like the same characters.
Advertising is necessary, but it has serious dangers, as many authors have pointed out: "Advertising is distorting the main function of the media. From disseminating information and invigorating cultural values, it has descended to the level of link between producers and consumers. It means that its own independence is undermined.
COMMUNICATION
Communication is the fundamental act of the human being that allows them to define themselves as such and grow in society. Through communication we can express our thoughts and feelings, and contribute to our personal and social growth. We watch and hear news all the time, we talk to people in person or on the phone, we send and receive messages and letters.
