- - - - At first the media pledged loyalty to Truman but Truman held back information.
        As a result, the media started getting news through republican sources that was untrue. Eg that Truman was considering the atom bomb.
        In 1950 there was a news story that Truman was thinking of increasing troops using the draft and using the Atom Bomb.
      - Aug 1950 Truman did TV briefings and sent 200 reporters to Korea but he lost support for sacking general MCArthur and his contained war
      - KOREA AND DISILLUSIONEMENT OF THE PRESIDENCY
        
        The Korean War created dissilusionment with the presidency:
        -Truman was expected to scale up the war and to increase the war of the Chinese in Taiwan.
        -General McArthur was sacked
        -The bickering in congress was brought to light by the media publicity and this was one of the cornerstones of the American Dream.
        -His opponents said that the Truman Doctrine was not a peaceful resolution.
