Part 3: Thinking as Jesus Thinks
Who do You Think You Are?
Dangerous Thinking
Part 2: Taking down the enemies of your mind
7.Drawing Battle Lines
Jesus defeated sin and the same resurreciton dwells within us
Satna wants you to think that "this is just hte way I am "
a mind set on flesh leads to death, a mind set on the Spirit leads to life
Big task, but Big God
All we have to do is claim the victory
Holding Space for Silence
In stillness, we connect with God and can better understand what's wrong
Real connected, intimate time with Jesus is teh very thing that grows our faith
all hell is against it
We're afraid of sitting still, facing ourselves and being found out
God not only loves us but likes us too
Fears: I cannot face God as I am
The fear of being put to work
the fear of being asked to change
the fear that you're all alone in the world
We're all messed up but we have a choice
When we draw nearer, he will draw nearer to us
The God who is the creator of the universe wants to be with us int the pain, shame, fear, doubt
Time in silence renews our minds
When you make time to listen to what God says, he gives us the confidence to live extraodinary lives
When we turn our minds toward him, we gain his wisdom
He's willing and able to help us
Our most valuable asset is our attention
What are you attending to?
Connection with God is the foundation for every other tool we have to fight with
Even your best day pales in reality for the life He can say you live
Father, help me see things not as they seem to me but as they truly are
[negative emotion] and [reason] so I will [choice]
We are free
Lifelines
we're built to be seen and loved
nobody changes anything all alone with a book
community is essential
God made me to live known and loved
I choose to be known
I choose commuinty
Be all of you
Just ask. Ask until asking doesn't make you cringe
Unafraid
A Beautiful Interruption
Less Important
Not Overcome
Run Your Race
Part 1: All the Thoughts
Thinking about thinking
how we think shapes how we live
the brain is constantly changing
Thinking → emotions
We can change our thoughts
be killing sin or it's killing you
What We Believe
Three lies: I'm helpless, I'm worthless, I'm unloveable
Every lie we buy into is rooted in what we think about god
Only God can ifll our souls and hold our sense of worth, no human
God takes up so much spaec ethat fear shrinnks
To jesus, spiritual warfare was a matter of fact
Spiraling Out
Walk through life, makigg sure there's not obvious place of attack
Doubt steals hope
the danger of Toxic thinking produces a reality where toxic reasoning makes sense
You ahve a choice to thiiknnk differently about your thoughts
Breaking Free
There is no way to escape the presence of God
God will not let go of you
She let the enemy beat up on her far too long
Alone in the dark, the devinl can tell you whatever the hell he wants
FAsting and praying
In Christ, i have the authroity to win
The spritiual person is lead by truth
OUr brains are moldable neural pathways; we can change
Be tansformed by the renewal of your mind
It's going to take work, patience, and buckets of grace
Recognizing htye attack brought healing
We fight to be the captors of our thoughts
Where Thoughts Are Captured
We are equipped to live in obedience in Christ
If a toddler is throwing a fit, we correct him, so why do we allow a meltdown in our own mind?
You are not a victim of your thoughts--you can use the power for good to slay strongholds
What we think → the way we live
We can learn to take one thought captive: "I Have a choice."
YOu have the God given gift to to choose how you think
The people who stand out are th eones who have chosen to trust in Jesus more than their own abilities
Jesus is the axis on which all of their thoughts spin
What do you fixate on?
Romans 12:2
Because we are a new creation, we have a choice
What we think about our brains become
what you think about = who you are
Change is possible; you have a choice!
Controlling our thoughts becomes reflexiive, an automatic response
The goal is to rely on the spirit in everything
The art of interruption
thoughts that lead to life and peace ¡ more God
Make the Shift
70 % of our thoughts are negative
Thoughts leads to emotions and beliefs about yourself
everything we need for life in God has already been givien to us
You don't have to held captive by your fear and doubts
self-help doesn't cut it; you need your mind redeemed
Think less about ourselves, not our own happiness; Love god and love others
beleiving our identity is the only self-help we need
TAke a thought captive → submit the tought ot Christ
Self-help can only be a better version ofi yourself; Christ is a whole new you
