EXAMPLE
Lindbergh returned from his last flight.

Yes/No Question
POSITIVO: Yes, the were. NEGATIVE: No, they weren´t.
EXPLANATION
For the negative past tense, we use didn´t + the base form for ALL verbs, regular and irregular.
COMPARE: Returned - didn´t return, Flew - didn´t fly, Built - didn´t build, Put - didn´t put.
REMEMBER: Put and a few other past-tense verbs are same as the base form.
PRONUNCIATION of - ed past forms
( T ) Pronounce/t after voiceless sounds: /p,k,f,s/
( D ) Pronounce /d/ after voiced sounds: /b,g,v,d,z,j,m,n,l,r/ and all vowel sounds.
( ED ) Pronounce / ed / d / or / t / sounds.

SIMPLE PAST EXPLANATION
To form the simple past tense pf regular verbs, we add-ed to the base form.
BASE FORM: start, dream, design, offer
PAST FORM: started, dreamed, designed, offered
The past form is the same for all persons.
EXAMPLE: They dreamed about flying.
