Descendants of migrants
The cultural diversity of Ecuador has been enriched with the contribution of groups of people who were migrants, for example, there are many people from Colombia and Peru here in our country and vice versa, in addition the Ecuadorian culture was influenced by European and Asian migrants. Culture is the way of life of people and / or social groups. In Ecuador there are different cultures that, over time, have given rise to new cultural expressions. Culture is not fixed; transforms over time.
The indigenous: they are the oldest culture in Ecuador. They have preserved their cultures, however, some indigenous elements are threatened, because children and young people are adopting habits that no longer use their native tongue and they no practice their customs.
Afro-descendants or Blacks: they have lived in Ecuador since colonial times and have a great presence especially in Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Guayas, Carchi and Pichincha. Their own cultural traits are endangered by poverty and the influence of other cultures.
Mestizos: they are the majority of the Ecuadorian population. It is the product of the union of a European, indigenous and Afro, The mestizos, have original values such as the "Pasillo" that has Spanish and indigenous influences, but in its development it has been something of its own.
National culture
Among Ecuadorians there are some common features that distinguish us, for example: our national symbols, the flag, the coat of arms and the anthem, but they are also: how we talking Spanish, our food and our customs, for example: "años viejos".
Regional cultures
In Ecuador, diverse cultures have developed which have their own customs. Regions or provinces also have their cultural traits. For example, Manabí or Loja have a specific way of talking and have their own customs.
