VOCABULARY
Biome: bioma: A region of the earth’s surface and the particular combination of climate (= general type of weather), plants,, and animals that are found in it.
Electric Eel: ánguila eléctrica: Long fish from South America that produces electricity to help it catch other fish for food

South America
Relief
South America is divided into three sections: the mountain range, the interior lowlands, and the continental shield. The Andes mountain range stands out for being the longest and youngest mountain range in the world, as well as the highest after the Himalayas.
Hydrography
Largest lake: Titicaca (8,135 km²) (Bolivia and Peru).
Longest river: Amazonas (6,800 km, the longest of the world).
Climate
The climate of South America is of a great variety: the warm humidity of the Amazon Rainforest, the dry cold of Patagonia, the aridity of the Atacama Desert, the winds of Tierra del Fuego. On the other hand, in Patagonia there are cold climates.
South America, is a subcontinent of the American Continent. It extends from the Gulf of Darién (Panama) in the northwest to the archipelago of Tierra de Fuego(Argentina) in the south.
