REGULAR VERBS; RULES
When the base form ends in a consonant + y, change y
to i and add -ed.

When the base form ends in e, add -d only.

When the base form ends in a vowel + y, add -ed.
Do not change the y.

When a one-syllable verb ends in a consonant-vowel-
consonant, double the fi nal consonant and add -ed.

AFFIRMATIVE: We were happy to read about the flight.
I was interested in the history of Earhart and Lindbergh.
