        personal expression of Nen, project one's aura to carry out a certain function, creating a special and unique paranormal ability, known as a Nen ability
        
        drawing out a significant amount of aura(more than when using Ten), amplifies user's physical strength and durability and also allows for usage of advanced techniques/individual skills
        
        shutting off the flow of aura from the body in order to conceal one's presence from others
      - creating a shroud of aura that surrounds the body like weightless clothes; for protection against Nen attacks

        Kurapika: Chains - Chain Jail(forces victim into state of zetsu), Judgement Chain(puts a condition on victim that they must meet to avoid death), Dousing Chain(tracks and locates whatever he wishes to find), Holy Chain(heals his injuries), Steal Chain(drains victims of their Nen, if victims happen to possess hatsu, he can steal their abiltiy and use it once, which will return the Nen ability to the victim, Steal Dolphin allows him to inject another with the stolen Nen)
      - change the quality of their aura
        
        Hisoka: Bungee Gum(and Texture Surprise), can stretch, adhere to most substances, and contract; has the properties of both gum and rubber
        
        Killua: Lightning - Godspeed(electricity directly charged to his muscles improves his reaction time and boosts his speed), Thunderbolt(basically what it is), Electric Shock(also self-explanatory)

        unique Nen abilites that don't fall in the other categories
        
        Kurapika: Emperor Time - only activated when his eyes are scarlet, can only use non-conjuring Nen abilities when in this state
        
        Neon: Lovely Ghostwriter - allows her to write out a person's fortune, in four verses, one for each week of the month
        
        Chrollo: Skill Hunter(Bandit's Secret) - able to steal the Nen abilities of victims, but has several conditions to meet before being able to do so
        
        control animate and inanimate things
        
        Illumi: Body alteration(changes his physical appearance using his needles), Hypnotic spell(inserts needle into victim to make them follow pre-set orders), Corpse control(controls the dead), Needle people(controls the living, depending on number of needles embedded, actions will differ)
      - detach aura from the body
        
        Leorio: Remote punch - aura is emitted in a line and travels along a surface from the point of impact to a desired location
