TOPIC 30 SPORTS
INTERNATIONAL SPORTS
They come from other countries and are related to mass culture and the development of entertainment industries.
They have become part of the Ecuadorian culture, influence national, regional, and local identities, and also provide elements of self-esteem and collective affirmation.

IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS
From the oldest societies, the sport was a widespread activity. In the present, sports practice is one of the most common activities in our societies. Some sports characterize a country, region, or locality.
The sport has social importance because in sports we establish relationships with other people. And also culture, because it can become a feature of our identity.

THE NATIONAL BALL

The game consists of throwing a heavy rubber ball on the ground or air, from one side of the court to the other, using only the racket or glove. Can stop the ball before reaching the edge of the court, you get a point or "chaza". The team that makes the most chazas wins the game.
THE ECUAVOLEY

It is practiced among amateur people in cities and rural areas, among young people and adults. It is a variant of volleyball. Two teams of three people participate in a rectangular court, divided by a network.
COCONUTS GAME

It consists of "taking out" the coconuts that
are inside a circle traced on the earth. The
players throw the rulimanes to see which of
them is the closest to the "circle or bomb "
and then try to remove the coconuts from the
ring or circle "pepeando" or hitting the rulimanes of the other players.
OTHER SPORTS DISCIPLINES
There are other sports, such as basketball and athletics, that are practiced, too, in an organized manner.
In Ecuador, there are about 44 sports federations linked to the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, whose athletes participate regularly in national and international competitions.
