laissez faire: characterised by a lack of interference from the leader. Competent and confident employees are necessary for this style to work. Laissez-faire leadership gives employees autonomy in making decisions and accomplishing an organisational objective.
autocratic: domineering and possibly tyrannical approach. It is strong and rule oriented.
Paternalistic: looks after the organisation's interests and its employees as if they were family.
democratic: values inclusiveness and employees' input.
situational: a style that one adopts for a particular situation.
