The Red Bandanna - Coggle Diagram
The Red Bandanna
Book
Color/Scenery
In the book the coloring was really left to the imagination for the most part, but scenery sure wasn't. An example would be how Well's described the view from the tower or even how he felt when the plains hit the towers.
Main characters
I think we can all say after reading this book the main character(s) is Wells Crowther. Yes, granted it goes through the lives of some of his acquaintances but in no way is anyone else the main character.
Symbols
Symbols in this book are two things. firefighting in and of it self and the red bandanna. Firefighting is saving lives, not just putting out fires. It is a courageous and noble thing to do. Then of course, there is the red bandanna. This symbol represents what it means to be selfless and noble as a human.

Overall Message
After reading the book I am set on the idea that the whole message is to give people a personal connection and understanding about who Wells Crowther was and how much of a noble, courageous, and selfless man he really was.
Movie
Coloring/scenery
Through out this documentary the camera and lighting all has a darker definition too it. This giving the documentary a more serious tone to it and to ultimately drive a message across.
Actors/Actresses
There were no actors, just the real people. That makes it personal.
Symbols
Symbols in this documentary are three things. firefighting in and of it self and the red bandanna. Firefighting is saving lives, not just putting out fires. It is a courageous and noble thing to do. Then of course, there is the red bandanna. This symbol represents what it means to be selfless and noble as a human. The third being the legacy, seeing in the documentaries how the family of Wells moved on and used his legacy yo help others speaks volumes.
Perspective
The documentary was more surrounded on the perspective of the parents rather than Wells, this letting you have more of an outside perspective and view on things.
Overall Message
The overall message of the documentary is to give a personal side and understanding to who Wells was to people and his parents especially and what the legacy has done to impact others today.
Similarities
There were a few similarities, such as the fact the documentary frequently mentions the red bandanna and what it means now. It brought up the phone conversation Well's had with his mom during the attacks and such, They also discuss and showed the first fire station Wells Crowther ever volunteered at and how he was always ready and enthusiastic to be on the job. Added with the fact they had the consistent symbol of the red bandanna.
Differences
I saw quite a few differences between both the book and the documentary. First off, in the documentary they didn't really cover Wells childhood and kind of left it out for the most part. Second off you got to see the parents stance mentally and emotionally today, and how they still feel. Questions were asked in the documentary you didn't get answers to in the book and almost covered the things the book didn't. The book was better at covering the before hand and in the moment of attack parts but the documentary was more of the other way around. More directly during and after the attacks.
