What is to be a citizen?
A citizen is a participatory member of a political community.
A
nation
grants certain rights and privileges.
Citizens
are expected to obey their country's laws and defend it against its enemies.
A person can become a citizen of a country by birth, registration, naturalization and conferment.
Citizennship by birth is automatic.
Citizenship is gained by meeting the legal requerements of a national, state, or local goverment.
Renewed Vision
Same rights and same obligations.
The Constitution and the law guarantee diversity, by recognizing us as citizens.
We must learn to live in democracy.
Citizen's Education
We, Ecuadorians, have to fight in the development of development of democracy:
Guarantee of health and education services.
Security:
Fight against crime - attack its bases.
Face corruption, especially in the highest spheres.
Fight againt poverty and social injustice.
Fight against domestic violence.
Men and women, mestizos, indigenous and blacks, from the highlands (serranos), from the coast (costeños), amazonians and islanders, catholics, protestans and agnostic, rich and poor.
