towards EGP and ESP
Questionnaire ( 15 questions in total)
Questionnaire concentrates on identifying this information:
Attractiveness of language, usefulness
of language, and importance of language
Findings were analyzed by using the SPSS
program.
Tendency towards the language was conducted indirectly
Research Participants
100 Students whose level of English is upper-intermediate
Conclusion
Students have some issues to understand language in their faculty courses because of unfamiliar terms and vocabularies
They would like to have ESP courses, and they believe these courses will be beneficial for them
Students have found out that they have lack of vocabulary related their occupational field
Causes to teach English for the Specific Purposes
Students do not understand terminology in their lectures
Students have not been taught for the needs at their faculty department
The development in communication and business technology
Dramatic increase in scientific, economic and technical world after the Second World War
Results of the questionnaire
Most of the students are interested in learning language
Field courses are more vital for students for their studies and future jobs
Half of the students feel confident when they speak outside the school, whereas 26 out of 100 do not feel confident
In general, students have positive attitude towards English
