The idea of our NGO is to provide information and educate people on the topic of uneducation and illiteracy. we will not be taking the actual physical support into our own hands however we will provide the names of good charities supporting the issue.

Katha is a registered NGO that focuses on child welfare and education in Delhi. Their motto is: Translating stories transforming lives. This is relevant to us in the sense that we are putting emphasis on the fact that most of this illiteracy is caused in childhood and that is where to put our focus.

Literacy rates in india have risen from 34.5% in 1971 to 43.6% in 1981 to 52.2% in 1991 to 64.9% in 2001 to 74% in 2011

Our issue is people not getting access to education in areas of poverty, causing illiteracy and further problems for adults later on
why has it changed?
Government
Allocate more resources to enforce compulsory education
Improve access to free education through schemes such as Sarva Siksha Aviyan
Increase investment in schools
provide scholarships to underprivileged children
extend access to free education for children beyond 14 years of age
The india literacy project
I believe that there will still be a considerable rise of literacy rates as in 2010, education was made a right and compulsory for children in india
The india literacy project supports 745000 children in 7900 schools in 5000 villages throughout 7 states around india.
They use donations to fund school infrastructure and fund the enrollment of qualified teachers
Enrollment in schools has now increased to 96%
70% of children in India attend government schools predominantly in rural areas.
