Rex sneaks Jeannette out of the hospital Rex walls style. This shows what type of father Rex is and how he is irresponsible.

Rex takes Jeannette out demon hunting when they stayed in the dessert. This shows that although Rex may make poor decisions he truly does care about his children.
Rex tries throwing the mom out the window in there house on Little Hobart Street. This shows that Rex has a very wide variety of tempers and emotions that can always change at any time.
Rex throws Jeannette into the water to teach her how to swim. This shows that the only way to learn is to get thrown into something even if you're not ready.
Differences
The movie flips between the past and the present more than once whereas the book starts in the present and stays in the past for the whole book until the end.
Jeannette is about 6 or 7 when making hot dogs in the movie whereas she is only 3 while making them in the book.
Jeannette never gets remarried in the movie whereas she gets remarried and has a family in the book.
Rex stayed at home when sick and about to die in the movie whereas he went to the hospital where he then died there in the book.
Jeannette and Rex made $80 while playing pool in the movie to pay for different household items whereas they only made $40 in the book to pay for those essentials.

Perspective: It was told from Jeannette's point of view and how she lived her life. We were living life in her shoes while reading.

-a cheetah represents bravery that Rex showed and taught the kids when he went up to pet it
-a car represents them traveling through life while moving from place to place
Overall message: Appreciate the small things because you never know when they will go away. Don't take life for granted.
Characters: Jeannette is the main character and throughout the book we see her family help her jump from milestone to milestone. Rex has a big part in how she turned out by him showing her what not to do.
Scenery: Throughout each chapter the scenery would change by them going from place to place running from their problems.

-the color yellow represents the families happiness such as when they were painting the house they were all happy
Perspective: the whole tells the story in their own way but it is more focused on Jeannette's point of view and her life.

-glass represents the families happiness together such as when they were collaborating about the glass castle
-fire represents anger such as when the parents are always fighting with each other or with the kids
Overall Message: Be grateful for what you have during life because you never know what the person next to you has or what they are going through.
Actors/Actresses: We think that the actors were picked very well based on the book and how everyone saw them such as Rex being a mean, crazy drunk, and a bad role model for Jeannette.
