The S.R. went beyond classical Roman and Greek knowledge and challenges previous theory (E.g. the Ptolemaic System, which suggested that the earth was at the centre of the universe). During the 1500s and 1600s, Nicholas Copernicus (Who promoted the Heliocentric system) was persecuted for his revolutionary thoughts; however, he, like later Leonardo da Vinci focused on How to demonstrate to prove or confound hypothesises no matter how revolutionary they might have sounded. Moreover, a second group of scientists, during the 17th century, including Newton, Galileo etc, focused more on finding facts before formulating a concrete hypothesis (A supported theory by multiple observation and tests) which gave life to the experimental methods
