ecology is the study of organisms in their environments
biotic factors are living things in an ecosystem
abiotic factors are nonliving things in an ecosystem
an organism is any living thing in an ecosystem
a population is a group of organisms of the same species living in the same habitat
a community is several populations together
an ecosystem is populations in a community
a biosphere is anywhere on earth where organisms can live
a habitat is where an organism lives
niche is an organisms roll in the habitat
a limiting factor is anything that keeps a species from growing
producers are all autotrophs
a consumer is any heterotroph
carnivores eat meat
herbivores eat plants
omnivores eat both plants and meat
commensalism is when one organism benefits off of another organism but the other organism isn't affected
mutualism is when two organisms benefit off of each other
parasitism is when one organism benefits off of another but the other organism is harmed
a food web shows all of the possible energy distributions in a habitat
the three nutrient cycles are the carbon cycle the water cycle and the nitrogen cycle
