How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
Technologies
To begin with, I was incorporating very basic tech. This was an iPhone to film on and an iMovie to edit on. This limited what I could do when making blogs but I feel that I have improved in this area heavily.
iPhone Camera: The iPhone camera did its job and allowed me to be more mobile when filming and made shooting very easy, videos were primarily filmed on the iPhone as it allowed me to so it a lot faster especially when it came to editing.
Canon Eos 2000D: This camera is very entry level but provides better shots due to the better quality compared to an iPhone, having the ability to film in this quality allows for my film to feel more cinematic almost and have that cinema feel. Editing also works better when done with a proper camera the quality is at a much higher standard.
Online
I have used many online apps throughout my blog. I sued Canva a lot when creating graphics or posters that may be needed for a blog. During my final task, the internet was used to find stock music and sounds that could be used in my film and I found the internet was a very good place to find copyright-free things.
The internet is also where I did my blogging through Blogger, this allowed me to have access to my blog at all times and the ability to change something at a moment's notice.
Blogger: Blogger is an American website that provides a platform for people to express an interest in my case it is for my A level blog. Blogger allows for me to have a space where I can share my content.
YouTube: YouTube is an American website and app where people can post videos on any subject they want, I used YouTube to post my final film and other small blogs. YouTube became my go to for blogs as it allowed me to say lots of information quickly and made editing and uploading very simple.
Canva: Canva is an app that provides the ability to make graphics and posters I used this in my final task to make the title card and then edited it.
To begin with, the technology that I was using was very basic. An iPhone 11 pro was what I filmed my videos with, to begin with. The quality was mediocre but eventually, I switched to the canon eos 2000D camera which provided a much-needed upgrade. I have done all of my editings for my final film on A P.C instead of an iPhone this adds a further level of professionalism.
Canon Eos 2000D: As hardware goes this did the job very well and allowed me to capture high-quality shots. However, it was not as nimble and easy to move as the iPhone meaning that most shots are done on a tripod.
Hp All in one Pc: The computer I use to do my blogs on and editing is very basic and does not have the processing power to handle Adobe Premiere Pro efficiently. It does feel a bit restricting at times but it does the job.
Software
For the software to begin with I used limited editing in the form of iMovie this really restricted what I could do when editing my videos and overall it did not give the best end product.
To improve the quality of my films I started to use Adobe Premiere Pro, which is seen as a top editing program in the field and is used by many professionals. There is a bit of a learning curve but once I got over this I found it very fun and I could see the improvement straight away.
Adobe Premier Pro: This is viewed in the field of editing as a top software and is used by many film companies. Having this power to edit shots allowed me to enhance the cinematic experience. It also allowed me to view the editing as it was taking place and to see the effects of what I was doing.
iMovie: This is as basic as it gets for editing software. The software itself is made by Apple and is available on ios devices and can help people usually to make personal funny films. I used this for my preliminary task and it did the job but did not have the professional feel I was wanting.
-
Improvements: After my preliminary task going into my final task my aim was to greatly improve the tech that I was using. So, for the final task, I switched to a Canon 2000 EOS camera: this gave my film a much better quality. The introduction of a tripod also meant that shots were not as shaky and the overall film felt a lot smoother.
