DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Dignity and responsibilities
Obligations: counterpart of rights
Responsibility forces us to look at the consequences that our actions have on
the community to which we belong.
Determine the obligations we have with ourselves and with other people.
Responsibility tells you that your rights do not end where others begin, but that
your rights are possible to the extent that others have rights and you respect and value those rights.
The main responsibility you have when you exercise a right is to ensure that it
does not cause harm or harm to other people.
You must assume the consequences that this brings, seeking to recognize, and
if possible avoid or repair, the damage caused.
Responsibility has an important dimension because it sets limits on rights and
helps to understand that you cannot be a subject of rights if at the same time you are not a subject of obligations or responsibilities.
Commitment
You can better assume your responsibility only when you commit to something or someone. If you want your life not to be a burden of tasks and obligations that overwhelm you, you have the responsibility of fostering spaces for dialogue, meeting and understanding with the people around you to build with them true communities of life where you feel valued.
Responsibility thus becomes an attitude of life, when it is assumed, although it is not
always pleasant to fulfill it. It is in all the acts we perform and allows us to be consistent between what we think, say and do.
Legal duties
Like rights, responsibilities are written in standards, which must be obeyed. The most
important are:
The limits of rights are in the respect and others freedom.
The Universal Declaration of Rights, which establishes that everyone has duties
to their community, where they can develop their personality freely and completely.
