Foreword Ideas:
What influences and shapes our decisions?
Why are you dressed in this way?
Why are you carrying this bag and not not that one?
Why are you talking to this person and not the other?
Why? Why? Why?
Making decisions is something we do every day whether consciously or unconsciously, both as individuals and in groups.
These decisions range from simple ones – for example, choosing what to eat, which products to buy at the tuck shop – to complex decisions about moving house, choosing schools, participating as a member of a local community in planning decisions and improvements and voting for political parties.
But questions still remain: What processes do we go through in making these decisions about different possible courses of action?
Are they the same every time?
Are they the same for everyone?
Are there extrinsic or intrinsic factors that influence and shape our decisions?
In this unit we will be looking at some of the decisions made by people in past, as we try to understand why certain decisions were made, and why we as individuals and as groups make certain decisions today.
