- - - - b) African-descendants (Black): They have lived in Ecuador since colonial times and have a great presence in several provinces of the country, especially Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Guayas, Carchi and Pichincha. Their own cultural traits have been preserved for centuries, but poverty and the influence of mass culture put its cultural traits in danger. The Black or Afro-Ecuadorian`s population sectors are victims of poverty and exclusion. However, they have had great presence, especially in the music, sports and literature
        
        3-MIGRANT’S DESCENDANTS The cultural diversity of Ecuador has been enriched also by the contribution of groups of people who were migrants whose offspring now lives as part of Ecuadorian society. For example, there are a lot of people from Colombia and Peru here in our country and vice versa in Colombia and Peru, there are also many Ecuadorian people. Since the 19th century and during the first decades of the 20th century, Ecuadorian culture received influence of European and Asian migrants who settled in different cities of the country. These people from abroad started some economic activities and influenced the habits and customs of our country. Currently, the emigration of many Ecuadorians to Europe and the United States searching for job opportunities influences the habits and customs of our people. On the other hand, as a way of reproducing the Ecuadorian culture in the countries where they live, migrants establish communities to maintain Ecuadorian customs.
        
        4-REGIONAL CULTURES  In Ecuador, diverse cultures have been developed that are settled in the regions, which have their own customs, ways of speaking, cooking, etc. For example, farmers from the coast (montuvios) have a very characteristic culture, which is expressed in their way of life, work, fun, etc. A similar reality is that of the “chagras”, who are the rural mestizos of the Andean region. The regions and provinces also have strong cultural traits. For example, Manabí or Loja have a specific way of speaking Spanish. Each province has its own food, festivities, customs, and social organization. "Manabitismo" and "lojanidad" have very own characteristics that people recognize without doubt. Azuay, Carchi, and other provinces also have strong identities.
