- - - - Sx (think infection!): Fever, chills, N/V/D, altered LOC, cyanosis, tremors/shaking
      - Prevention: follow policy/procedure for blood transfusion, change blood tubing every 4 hours or after administering 2 units
      - Treatment: blood cultures to ID, antibiotics to treat, IV fluids to improve BP/prevent dehydration
  - - - Sx: cough, dyspnea, lung congestion, JVD, headache, increased BP/HR, generalized edema
      - Treatment: Diuretics, chest x-ray, keep client upright
      - Prevention: assess for pertinent Hx, slow rate of infusion, divide blood units
