Evangelisation (announcement of Good News)
Two key elements – Ministry of the Word and Christian Witness.
Jesus gave his Mission of proclaiming God’s Gospel the good news of JC. Going out to the world to share in the good news for people who want to follow him (page 12)

Authors of the four gospels in the New Testament known in Christian tradition as evangelists – proclaim the good news of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.
Catechesis
- Process of sharing or nurturing the faith in the community - about living the faith – expressing your faith – joining in liturgies where you learn about the gospel stories.
- About what’s inside, your engagement and belief in faith – prayer and liturgical celebrations and coming together as a community.
- Responsibility of parents to take students to mass, have sacraments – not the school. About the family background.

Religious Education
Contributes to evangelisation to help students develop – teaching of C faith and understandings and knowledge. Used to ID that part of the process that involves the proclamation of the Christian tradition in a way that encourages sts towards further exploration and inquiry into the Christian way of life.
Plan teaching strategies, assess, report.
Same vigour as any other Learning Area. Sts partake in RE classes everyday (K-2 15 mins, Yr 3-6 30 mins)
Frist Learning Area in Catholic Schools - focuses on the knowledge and understanding of the Gospel as it is handed on the Catholic Church.

CEWA RE Program in schools aims to help sts learn the teachings of the gospel as proclaimed by the Cath Church. Sts dev a sense of the nature of Christianity and how Christians live their lives as part of their learning.
Church's Mission
Catholic Church is to evangelise. Mission of Cathlic schools is to support that – bring JC presence to children and families and community of the school.
Bishops Mandate (CEWA, 2009-2015)
- Catholic schools have a vital part to play - purpose only be understood within the context of this mission - to proclaim Jesus' Gospel to every human person, to baptise all who believed.
- Important means through which the Church proclaims the Gospel of JC, or evangelises, in the world today.
- Schools provide opportunities for sts to reflect upon meaning of their lives and the light of the life, death and resurrection of JC
