Definition
"“any material which has not been specifically produced for the purpose of language teaching” (Nunan 1989)
“a text that was created to fulfill some social purposes in the language community in which it was produced” (Little 1989)
What native speakers listen to or read about - real life examples of English

Is it motivational for students?

Ways of using authentic materials
Language focus
demonstrate and teach a specific language point
Grammar - parts of speech, sentence structure, discourse, meaning, functional language
Vocabulary - words, phrases, idioms, phrasal verbs, collocations
Pronunciation features - word stress, sentence stress, intonation, emphasis, attitude or tone
