To find number of electron
Fermi Probability Function at zero temperature. Probability in CB is zero, in VB is one and in fermi level is 0.5.
Fermi Probability Function at higher temperature. Probability in CB is >0, in VB is <1, and in fermi level not equal to 0.5.
Superimposing S(E) and f(E) will give n(E). (Area under the curves)
Extrinsic semiconductor
n-type. Fermi level nearer to Ec. More electrons in CB.
p-type. Fermi level nearer to Ev. More holes in VB.
