Causes
Caused by certain subtypes of chlamydia trachomatis
Bacterium th a can also causes the sexually transmitted infection chlamydia
Poverty and lack of proper hygiene
Symptoms
Mild itching and irritation of the eyes and eyelid
Discharge fron the eyes containing mucous or pus
Eyelid swelling
Light sensitivity (photophobia), eye pain
Management
Antibiotics therapy, both topical systematic
Surgical intervention
Hygiene is important
Health education
Always wash your hands thoroughly especially when you will touch your face
Limit rubbing eyes when inching irritation may caues irritation
Close eyes and place washcloth on eyelids for about 5 minutes,reheating the washcloth as necessary
Nursing care plan
Provide lighting that avoids glare on surfaces of walls,reading materials, and so forth
Provide night lighting for the patient's room and ensure lighting is adequate for the patient's needs
Provide sufficient lighting for the patient to carry out activities
