States of matter and mixtures/pure substances
Pure substances and mixtures
Unlike pure substances mixtures have different molecules and can contain a variety of element
Pure substances are substances that either contain one type of molecule or only one element.
When physically changing a pure substance such as through heat, when the substances is changing forms it changes sharply and at once since no other substances is interfering with it.
When physically changing a mixture often the melting point would have been reduced and the boiling point would have increased, however when it is changing forms it tends to change in a slope since many different substances are changing at different points of time in the heat.
States of matter
Liquid
boiling
Liquids are densely packed together and majority of the particles are touching but it still flows. It also has less energy than a gas.
Gas
Gases have high energy, and the bond between the particles are very loose almost none of them touch each other.
Solid
melting
Solids are extremely densely packed, all the particles are tightly bonded together, and doesn't move only vibrates in the same spot. Solids have far less energy than liquids.
sublimation
It is when a soild directly moves from solid to gas such as dryice to vapour after it comes into room temperature.
