management of hypoxia OR regulation of respiration - Coggle Diagram
management of hypoxia OR regulation of respiration
Nervous regulatory mechanism !
Automatic control
medulla
dorsal respiratory group
made up of inspiratory neurons
control inspiration
ventral respiratory group
made up of inspiratory and expiratory neurons
control inspiration and expiration
pons
Apneutic centre +
send signals for inspiration
inhibited by stretch receptors of the pulmonary muscle
Pneumotaxic centre -
send signals to inhibit inspiration to control respiratory rate
voluntary control
Cerebral cortex or motor cortex
responsible for initiating voluntary muscular movement
Chemical regulatory mechanism
Central chemoreceptors
present in medulla
stimulate when hydrogen ion concentration increases in CSF
increase concentration in brain interstitial fluid
pulmonary / myocardial chemoreceptors
present in pulmonary blood vessels and coronary vessels
stimulate in tachycardia condition
to attain brachycardia by injections
Peripheral chemoreceptors
present in carotid and aortic body
carotid body respond to arterial hypoxia
aortic bodies connected to cardiovascular centers in brain stems
stimulate when arterial PCO2 increase
stimulare when arterial PCO2 decreases
