small cell lung carcinoma: arises in peribronchial locations and infiltrates the bronchial submucosa. widespread metastases occur early in the couse of the disease, with common spread to the mediastinal lymph nodes, liver, bones, adrrenal glands , and brain
nursing intervention
auscultate lungs for air movement, because consolidation and lack of air movement on the operative side are normal in the pneumonectomy patients.
investigate restlessness and changes in mentation or level of consciousness, this may indicate increased hypoxia or complications.
assess the patient response to activity. encourage rest periods and limit activities to patient tolerance.
