Spinal cord disorders( Myasthenia gravis) - Coggle Diagram
Spinal cord disorders( Myasthenia gravis)
signs and symptoms
facial bones paralysis
double vision
drooping eyelids
back pain with needles
challenge in lifting materials or walking up the stairs.
fatigue
trouble talking or swallowing and chewing
difficulty breathing due to muscle weaknesses(Cindy M. Sullivan 2017)
diagnostic studies
endrophonium test is done
repetitive nerve stimulation test
blood tests for antibodies associated with MG
imaging of chest and spine using CT scan or MRI to rule out tumor(Cindy M. Sullivan 2017)
Nursing intervention and drug therapy
Monitor respiration and oxygen saturation of patient
keep patient bedridden for few days especially after surgery to prevent complications
administer pyridostigmine is needed
keep patient hydrated and monitor output and input
give immunosuppressive agent
ensure patient eats healthy under your care to promote tissue perfusion and muscle repair
give steriod used to reduce the antibodies formation
health educate patient about the disorder
if patient is bedridden for few days, do position changing 2 hourly with help of other nurses to prevent bedsores
monitor patient when mobilising( Cindy M. Sullivan 2017)
surgical management
Thymectomy may bring an improvement to the patient (

defination
spinal condition causing abnormal weakness of particular muscles in the body.it cause paralysis of the muscles like facial muscles.
pathophysiology
the antibodies that attack and block the functioning of the acetylcholne receptor are formed
this causes impaired neurotransmission and muscle weakness which lead to muscle twitching( Cindy M. Sullivan 2017)
