Pathophysiology
It occurs when there is a problem with the pigments in certain nerve cells of the eye that sense colour.

If one pigment is missing,a person may have trouble telling a difference between green and red.

Causes
Eye disease, like glaucoma or macular degeneration
Brain and nervous system diseases, like Alzheimer's or multiple slerosis
Some medicines like, Plaquenil
